Sexually Abused by Dee Dee Warwick
Whitney director Kevin MacDonald told the details of abuse during an interview with Deadline. Whitney’s family also claim the I Will Always Love You hitmaker and her half-brother Gary suffered years of abuse at the hands of her aunt Dee Dee, the sister of soul legend Dionne Warwick.
The pair were both allegedly molested when they were left with family members while their parents were on the road. “He told me that he was abused by a woman in the family, and [Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law] Pat Houston told me that, yes, Whitney had said to her, ‘This is what happened,’” Kevin MacDonald explained.
“Then I [interviewed] Mary Jones, who was Whitney’s longtime assistant [throughout] the last 10 years of her life, and who knew her better probably better in that period than anybody else. And she told me Whitney’s point of view on this, and what Whitney had told her in detail, and how important she felt it was for understanding Whitney, but how scared everyone was to talk about it.”
Houston Lesbian Relationship With Her Best Friend
“The film also confirms rumors that Houston had a lesbian relationship with her best friend Robyn, prior to her marrying Bobby Brown,” Amy Kaufman of LA Times tweeted further. “Her brothers also talk about introducing her to drugs as a teenager, giving her a bag of weed and a small amount of cocaine on her 16th birthday.”
